Polarized Nation. I Am Myself

by Jon Katz

My idea of politics is personal. I don’t need to announce my choices or beliefs to the world. I never argue them on social media. I do not label other people.

I am nothing more or less than myself. I am not a member of any team, I don’t accept any label people put on me.

In the polarized nation,  you are one thing or the other. There is no middle, no grey, no mixing of ideas.

You are either for Black Lives Matter, or you are not. Another way for us to label one another and never listen or learn.

This has made me stronger, and hopefully, more thoughtful. I am learning to think for myself, and to simply be myself. I can’t be someone else’s s elf.
