Feral Cat Support: An Important New Amazon Wish List

by Jon Katz

Darlene Phillips of Community Cats – a cat lovers rescue group dedicated to trapping, neutering and returning feral cats (TNR program) to their homes has just put up a new Amazon Community Feral Cat Wish List.

The list has 17 items ranging in price from $3.43 to $99.99.

This is a chance to help feral and abandoned cats inexpensively and regularly. The group, only a year old, is nearly overwhelmed feeding, neutering, and healing feral and lost cats.

The items on the list will all be familiar to cat lovers (there are many in the Army Of Good), they include Antimicrobial Scoops,  Purina Fancy Cat Wed Food, Litter Pans, Cat Toys, Cat Beds, 9Lives Dry Food,  Clumping Cat Litter and three Live Animal Traps ($99.99 apiece.)

Darlene and I talked last night about the value of wish lists which give animal lovers the chance to send help easily and directly, and also allows them to choose the help they want to provide.

I’m working to connect Darlene’s group, based in Salem, N.Y. with my blog and the Army Of Good. We help people, I realized we could be helping animals as well.

Few animals need support as badly as feral cats – there are an estimated 70 million of them in the United States. For years, they have been overlooked.

They often lead hard lives and die awful deaths.

We are hoping in this work to raise consciousness about the plot of feral cats, and also to adopt stray and abandoned cats, Community Cats doesn’t turn cats away.

Since the blog is read all over the country, this could help make people aware of this urgent problem. I have two feral cats on the farm, they are fortunate. Most can’t live with people.

Darlene’s group is in urgent need also, they are overwhelmed with cats right now and we are talking about a GoFundMe page that might help them build, buy or renovate some kind of facility to house the cats and kittens that come to them.

You can see their blog here. And their Facebook Page here.

Right now, there are 27 cats in their care. Please take a look at the new Amazon Community Cats Wish List and help if you can. This is a simple and inexpensive way to do some good every day without even leaving home. These days, that’s an incentive.

Your purchases go directly to the cats, there are no middle-men or bureaucracies in the middle.
