Off To Say Hi To Robert Frost

by Jon Katz

Maria and I are heading out to buy some food for dinner I am cooking tomorrow night, two friends are coming over.

One is Christine Decker, the actor who played the part of a dairy farmer in a playlet I wrote for a local theater company. We’ve become friends. I took her wonderful acting glass last year and learned that I never want to be an actor.

The other is Jackie Thorne a writer and poet and nurse and former student in my writing class, not in hiatus. I’m more into writing these days that teaching writing.

Jackie was one of my best students, and I am enjoying being her fan and friend. I have to figure out what to cook tomorrow night, I’ll do some shopping in Bennington.

I also have this itch to visit the gravesite of Robert Forst, the late, great poet. He’s buried near the Bennington Art Museum in Vermont, I feel like stopping to say hello this morning.

More later.

  1. Hello Jon:
Thanks for the note about visiting the grave of Robert Frost. I was in High School in Bennington when he died. This was a really big deal for my English teacher, Miss Bonham. She was a total fan of Frost and all that he wrote. She wanted our class to visit his grave but we had to wait for the weather to cooperate. As I recall he died in Boston in January so there was a delay in the interment due to frozen ground. Been to the site numerous times.
