Every morning, we take the dogs out for a workout. Zinnia chases a ball, Fate chases some sheep, Bud goes off to stalk his chipmunk.
They are all busy dogs, working dogs, on warm days Zinnia and Fate come in panting, Bud is calm and collected, trying to charm me for a treat.
He’s a charmer if you’re not a chipmunk. I love the sound of happy dogs panting. Zinnia is really a winter dog, the heat wears her out. Nothing wears Fate out, except for three or four minutes.
After that, she’s ready to go again. Zinnia is snoozing in my air-conditioned office, snoring with her head on my foot. When she wakes up, there’s a marrow bone waiting for her to chew.
Tough life, Zinnia. Come and hear the Panting Symphony.
