This morning, I am celebrating the small but important triumphs of the Pandemic. It feels great. And thank you for your support.
I am delighted to report that Jean’s Place officially opened up today, at least mostly. They are continuing their take-out but have also set up four or five tables outside so people order food and eat there and still keep a safe distance from one another.
This is a big deal. I so admire these people for their decency, compassion, hard work, good food, and rock hard determination. I hope I helped a little bit, but it was only a little bit.
The town rallied to Jean’s and never wavered or let up their support.
They worked like demons, never wavered, and their little town of Hoosick Falls rush to support them going. For the next few weeks, they can only permit 25 percent occupancy, and since the restaurant is so small, they going to wait to serve inside until they can open up more fully.
I have really come to love and admire these people, they have always combined a kind of social work with warm, fresh, and lovingly prepared food.
I loved these three women who will be gathering at Jean’s every Sunday morning, they are friends and supporters of the restaurant. One is a bank teller, one is a real estate agent one is a nurse fresh from the front lines. They quite wonderful.
Kevin and Kelly held forth in the kitchen, working day and night, and Kelsie, Kelly’s daughter manned the phones, took the orders, and worked evenings and nights.
They did all of this the old fashioned way – hard work, courage, and determination. Kelsie was up to her neck this morning, taking orders and serving food.
Maria and I went to Jean’s first thing this morning to celebrate, we each had egg cheese sandwiches on their homemade bread. It was great.
Congratulations Kelly, Kevin, and Kelsie. You are much loved.
