Bud is a mighty hunter, at least when it comes to chipmunks. He caught one last week and has been sitting by the fence staring at the stone foundations every since.
He is patient and determined. He can be a cuddle-bug at night by the fire, but is tough and unrelenting when it comes to rodents and chipmunks. Boston Terriers were bred to catch rats in Boston more than a century ago.
Do not be fooled by this sweet and soulful face. Bud is a little killing machine.
What a ham! Bud looks so sorrowful, like “Oh, woe is me, I never get to go outside and chase the sheep or play with the others!” Yeah, right, you little faker! 🙂 Very hard to believe from this photo that he is ever a “killing machine”!
🙂 Bud has quite the life….killing things is his passion tho..
That’s what Terriers were bred to do. When I was a child, we had Queenie, a Fox Terrier mix. She was a sweet and playful dog by day, but at some time, she became a killer of mostly field mice that came in the cellar door near where she slept on her very comfortable rocking chair. Every Saturday, when I had to vacuum the cellar, I moved Queenie’s chair and discovered her treasure of dead mice all lined up in a little neat row. She looked so proud when I counted them and carted them away to be put in the garbage when Queenie wasn’t looking.
