Great news, Jean’s Place has survived the Pandemic and the resulting shutdown. Thanks to the loyalty of the good people of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Jean’s took up the challenge and decided that life for their restaurant is worth living.
They are planning to open up in two weeks, details to come. Every Sunday, a small crowd gathers out in the parking lot, sets up their socially distant chairs, orders brunch, and eats it right there.
Every one of them tells me the same thing every Sunday: “these people (Jean’s Place) have been so good to so many people over the years, there is hardly anyone in town that doesn’t own them some loyalty.”
Today there were lawn chairs spread out all over the parking lot. Everybody was coming out to celebrate Memorial Day at their favorite restaurant if they wanted to sit out in the parking lot, that was fine.
So the residents are returning many kind favors. I’m also tickled at the collaboration between Jean’s Place and the Mansion, Jean’s is still going their weekly lunches.
This coming Wednesday lunch will be what they call their “Cold Play,” which is a macaroni and potato salad with baked beans, sliced him and cheese on a roll, with cupcakes for dessert.
For all the whining and griping that is epidemic in our country, it is a joy to see character and hard work pay off, to see good deeds rewarded, to see the power of community to change destiny.
Kelly, Kelsie, and Kevin never wavered and only complained a little. Every day they put their heads down and charged. I wish them every success.
Good for you, guys. You deserve it.
