Maria made this image for her Corona-Kimona, I flipped when I saw it and begged her to order 100 magnets, I think it will resonate with a lot of people. She agreed, they’re on the way.

This one is somewhat larger than her standard magnets, 5 inches tall, and will cost $7 plus $one dollar shipping for one or more. It reads “The coronavirus is making women into housewives again,” a timely magnet for any refrigerator door.

There is a sketch of a housewife as well.

Maria’s Artist Residence is turning out to be productive and creative. She is thinking of selling some of her very wonderful collages also in the next week or two.  She is taking to this new medium.

Maria is hearing from many of her friends and other women, especially those with children locked down at home.  They all say the same thing: “we are housewives again.”

It’s frustrating and challenging, especially to women with their own businesses.

It’s the same old story, the men make more money than the women, and so the women have to put aside their work to care for their children (and still do their work and a lot of housewives work.)

I think it’s a great sketch and a perfect magnet, for now, a token and memory of the time, as schools and camps struggle to figure out when and how to open.
