Thanks For The Gift Cards

by Jon Katz

I received over 20 gift cards in the past few days, they ranged in price from $25 to $100 and I thank you. They are all being overnighted to Sue Silverstein in Albany, she will deliver them in person or mail them right out to the needy refugee students and their families.

The Gift Card program is a miracle, a remarkable success, one of the high moments for me of the work of the Army Of Good. Keeping people from going hungry is a profound act of kindness and good. I have no doubt it will be repaid in some form, in some way.

I hope we can continue the Gift Card program, the hunger is very real and we are supporting the nutrition of between 40 and 50 refugee families.

We are honoring the promise I made to myself that no one in the Bishop Maginn High School Community shall go hungry because of this Pandemic.

They might not be feeling it in Oklahoma, but they are sure feeling it in the refugee community. I thank you again and hope we can continue to help these families eat.

The gift card program works this way. You go here to see the gift cards and purchase them in any amount. If you spend more than $300, you may be asked to activate the cards via an e-mail message.

The cards need to be sent to the farm, as the school is closed and gift cards can’t be sent to post office boxes. You must fill in all of the fields, there aren’t too many.

My address is Jon Katz, 2502 State Route 22, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. The cards all go to Sue Silverstein, who usually delivers them on foot. (We got her some new walking shoes, she does not buy things for herself.)

If you don’t wish to purchase these cards online, I will be happy to buy the cards for you. You can send a contribution via Paypal, [email protected], or by check,  Jon Katz, Gift Cards, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12817.

You can see and purchase the cards here.

Thank you, I can’t imagine an act of kindness greater than feeding the hungry and the vulnerable. Tonight, I’m going to buy some customized bandannas for the graduating class of Bishop Maginn.

The school says they will find a way to have a graduation ceremony.
