My granddaughter Robin has the capacity to find joy in her world and her life. She is quite smart, and she knows something unpleasant is happening. She misses her school and friends.
I’m glad she can keep laughing at the world around her. I am sorry to hear that young children seem to also be getting seriously ill from the coronavirus, more than 75 are hospitalized in the New York City area, and three have died.
It wasn’t something I thought to worry about before.
Emma and her husband are concerned about their jobs, and about being able to pay the high tuition for their pre-K school. Half the country is worried about the same thing.
And New York City has been devastated by the coronavirus, life there is hardly recognizable.
My daughter has done a brilliant job of putting her life together, I would hate to see this trouble getting close to her and her husband Jay.
There is very little I can do to help, it would be dangerous for me to go to New York City, or for them to come here. It might be a year or two before I can see her or Robin, or before they can come up here.
They are smart and gifted and I know they will be all right. Still, it is unsettling, to say the least.
In the meantime, Facetime and Zoom will have to do. Seeing Robin’s face was a lift for me.
I agree Jon, my 2 granddaughters live in another state. They usually spend the month of July with me and Grampa on our little farm. This will be their 8th summer but because of coved 19 it may not happen. Thank goodness we can visit on FaceTime! My daughter lives in Denver and I haven’t seen her since mid February. We usually try to get together twice a month, but she is worried about bringing the virus to the farm. She and Andrew don’t have Internet access at their home so phone calls will work for now. Life has certainly been upended, but finding the good in all this like flowers at Jeans Place and being able to help others is what will keep us all afloat. Thank you for brilliant writing and uplifting messages!
Photos of Robin always make me smile. She seems such a happy, very smart little person…you can almost see the “wheels turning” through her lovely eyes! Emma is a great photographer!
