It is impossible to get discouraged or disheartened as long as there are people like Eunice – she lives in California – in the world. Today, she sent me the following letter along with a check for $200:
“Dear Jon, Always enjoy reading your blog. It’s positive and uplifting. I am 86 and I live in a full-care nursing home. One of the government rules (Medicaid) is a limit on how much money we can have. If we are over the limit they take it away.
Well, I find that I am over the limit and have to spend it. So I thought I would help you feed the hungry. So you get $200.00 to do that. I would rather for you to get it than the government. Eunice.
Eunice, thank you. I just bought two Price Chopper Gift Cards, $100 each. They will be used to feed the hungry.
How very kind and giving of Eunice, who has so little. My Grandma was so giving like that, too, even though she had very little herself. If someone gave $10 to her, she gave away $8 of it. She said there were people who needed it more than she did. I would see her palming money to people when we were at church with her, or at the Salvation Army store where she worked.
