We Did It: Nathan Gets His Fogger Money Monday

by Jon Katz

I will sleep happily tonight; tomorrow I’ll meet Nathan McKensie at the Mansion around noon to hand him a check for $2,986.70 for a Handheld Disinfectant Fogger, six cases of refill, 2 cases of  Disinfectant 500.

You did it, and the staff and residents of the Mansion are so grateful.

By the middle of the week, the Mansion will have one of the most advanced and effective institutional disinfectant systems anywhere.

The aides, who now spent many hours a day wiping every surface in the Mansion, will be liberated to do what they want to do, take good care of the residents.

The spray can be used around people and food and won’t harm surfaces – there are no chemicals in it, just some water and salt – Electrolyzed Water Technology.

This technology is already in use killing Human Coronavirus and most known pathogens. (I have no idea how this works.) Nathan knows what he is doing.

The Mansion can be sprayed in minutes.

Nathan McKensie, the Mansion’s Director of Maintenance, deserves some applause and appreciation. He saw a frightening wave of illness tearing through elder care facilities and decided to jump ahead of it, he’s been researching this project and approached me about it Friday.

The technology and fogging system is approved by New York State health officials.

I was thrilled to help, along with the Army Of Good. I thought we might pull this off, but not so quickly. I had $2,500 this morning and got most of the rest this afternoon. If there is a shortfall, I’ll make up the difference.

If there is an overage (some contributions are coming by check), I’ll apply it directly to the Mansion Fund; the residents need all kinds of help and support now. I thank you so much for jumping on this so quickly and generously.

I appreciate the many small donations that added up to victory here, along with a few larger ones.

The gift cards for the refugees are coming in also. You are doing so much good, and are so willing to reach out to the needy and vulnerable; I don’t have words. I am honored to be associated with such good people; you affirm the very meaning of love, compassion, trust, and empathy. You give me and many other people hope.

“I love the Army Of Good,” Sylvie wrote to me in one of her letters. “I know we are not alone.”

Nathan promises photos and videos of the Fogger when it goes to work, I wish I could get inside to see it. I’m sure it will take him a few days to get everything organized. I can’t think of a better gift for the Mansion and its residents and aides.

These are scary times for the elderly. The aides have worn themselves to the bone, keeping the Mansion clean and safe, this will be a huge step towards protecting the residents, right now among the most vulnerable of people.

And it will free up the aides to do what they are trained to do – care for the residents.

Thank you, thank you. I’ll get a photo tomorrow of Nathan getting the check. If anybody is keen on contributing to our Mansion or refugee projects, there is still great need: Via PayPal, [email protected], or by check, Jon Katz, Mansion Fund, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

I’m planning a Jean’s Place catered lunch with dessert on Wednesday.

Thank you!
