“The artist has one function – to affirm and glorify life.” — W, Edward Brown
As the Pandemic draws closer and more disturbing, every artist in the world gets to work, bringing color and light to the world. Maria has ordered elastic to make some masks, she is working on a Corona Kimono every day. She is finishing a wall hanging.
She is affirming and glorifying life.
I am trying to do the same thing. My job is to bring our minds some food, to think and feel and remind people of the goodness in the world.
I see the Creative Spark in her studio, it sends a lot of energy and color out into the world. The old studio was almost radioactive with good energy.
Poem: Out Of This Mess
“Pray to be humble,
so that God does not
Have to appear to be so stingy.
O pray to be honest,
Strong, Kind And Pure.
So that the Beloved is never miscast
As a cruel great miser.
I know you have a hundred complex cases
Against God in court
But never mind wayfarer,
Let’s just get out of this mess.
and pray to be loving and humble,
So that the Friend will be forced to reveal
Himself.
So
Near!”
—Rumi
“The role of the artist I now understand as that of revealing through the world-surfaces the implicit forms of the soul, and the great agent to assist the artist was the myth.” – Joseph Campbell
Jon you described this beautifully! There is an energy radiating in this photo and you captured it. Thank you for sharing.
This photo lightened my spirit. Knowing that Maria is in her studio creating such amazing pieces, inspires me.
Bless you both for the Conspiracy of Love.
