I am especially fond of the Blue Gouramis we got for our fish tank a couple of months ago. I  love their color in the light, and their hardy,business-like nature. They are meditative fish for me, in the late afternoon, during my peaceful hour, I like to sit and watch them forage in the thick plants at the top of our aquarium.

I was a fish nerd when I was a kid, and I was often teased about it, and I still think fish are a geeky thing to have. But I guess I’m a fish geek still, they bring me peace and some beauty as well, they bring some nature into the farmhouse.

I call all of them “Gertrude.”
