The key to portrait photography for me is to always shoot a portrait of someone or something you love, the portrait will come out right. I liked this image of Zinnia in the rain, taken through a car window. It is both poignant and appealing at the same time.
Zinnia and I are partners in life now, we are both at ease with one another. I love the serious and patient way she is waiting for me to open the door. No barking, no jumping, she waits patiently, she knows I am coming to get her. She is lying on my foot as I wrote this caption.
Couldn’t agree with you more Jon. Great portrait! ❤️
That precious face! I just wanted to kiss her through the rain-streaked glass. After Christmas I found a large stuffed yellow lab on sale and brought it home, ostensibly for my neighbor kid’s next birthday. But for now she is lying on the guest bed and I call her Zinnia. She is the size Zinnia was a few months ago, and she has on a red-checked bandana. A friend who saw her agreed she looks just like your Zinnia. I’m not sure the neighbor kid is going to get this one! LOL
Seeing that lovely picture I! was reminded of my first dog that I now consider my true love. He was small and stopped in front my house to take a pee. I was off to work but I noticed he was collarless so I picked him up when he was done and placed him under lock and key, I posted notices and contacted various shelters for 2 weeks and no one claimed this poor soul so he remained under my care for the next 17 years of his life, or perhaps I remained under his care for the remaing 17 years of his life. It was the best ever ! Dogs rule!
A quiet, positive moment. Nice sentiment and great read.
