I’m banned from going to Jean’s Place for the next few weeks, “Guv” is not compromising on this, and I ‘m not arguing about it. I did go there today and sat outside while Maria came in to get our sandwiches and pay them for the lunch they are bringing to the Mansion tomorrow.
They’re making a Lasagna lunch, and some pies, which the residents should love. Friday, Clark’s Pizzeria is bringing a bunch of pizzas and a salad. Next week, a sub lunch.
Jean’s Place is hanging on. They are tough and determined and much loved. They believe, as do I, that the restaurant could open in a month. I have no crystal ball, it’s just something that feels right.
I sense they are busy and lunch and also at dinner. There were cars in a stream in the parking lot around noon, nobody hangs around, in and out, everybody keeps a distance from one another.
Breakfasts are spotty. Local people: you can call and order take-out at 518 686-3258. The restaurant is fast and efficient and clean as a whistle. Miss you, Kelsie.
I would be very much surprised if the restaurant could open in a month. Most good predictions that I’ve read regarding New York (where I live) say that the ban on restaurants will continue through the summer.
Could you let us know about your Round House Cafe and Scott? We all got quite attached to the place through your blog. Are they managing to survive this as well using take out options and maybe their pizza oven, or are they just closed down? That would be such a shame.
Thanks.
Hazel, I’m afraid I don’t write on demand. I mention Scott when it’s appropriate or when something has happened. I can’t keep track of everyone I have written about, alas. You can find the roundhouse cafe on Facebook if you are curious, thanks.
