Bishop Maginn High School sent out an SOS this morning, they urgently need 12 computer chargers with power and battery cables. I suggested they put up a Wish List on Amazon.
But it turns out, packages from Amazon are being returned now because the school is shut down and not receiving packages (they are getting letter mail delivered by USPS). Some of the items we sent for the prom have been returned.
This need is urgent, as we are working quickly and intensely (Dr. John Borden, a teacher is setting this program up) to set up the Mobile Classroom and make sure that every student has a computer.
We bought 20 laptops in the past week, and the cables will help us use older computers that are being dug up or donated.
The corona may serve these children well on in one way when it’s over: these refugee and inner-city children will have computer and Internet access that has not been possible for them.
I realized an Amazon Wish List won’t work in this case because of the address confusion. Many people in the Army Of Good might end up sending these cables to the wrong place, so I bought them myself, as time matters.
They cost just under $400. Amazon didn’t have 12 of the cables I wanted, so I had to shop around and pay some shipping fees.
A school official thanked me and the Army of Good for this work, “we talk to other schools all the time, and they envy us, we know we are lucky.”
So are we.
The cables are bought and on the way here, some will take a couple of weeks to arrive, lots of schools are looking for them.
