Good and inexpensive laptops are much in demand right now, as so many schools are turning to virtual classrooms to get through the carona virus crisis.
I’ve had to scour much the country to find the ones I want for Bishop Magin’s Mobile Classroom, but I am making progress, I now have nine (possibly ten).
Flor, my ferocious barn cat, is unimpressed.
I’d like to get 20 laptops. Some of the Bishop Maginn students don’t have either Wi-Fi or computers. We’ve solved the Wi-Fi problem – Spectrum will offer them free Wi-Fi for two months.
I suspect the school closing will go on for some time, and these kids need to be learning.
So I need to get 10 more computers, they are averaging $240-$275 apiece. Some generous people are helping, and if you want to help, you can do so via Paypal, [email protected] or by check, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
Part of the challenge will be getting them to Albany since I am not now permitted to travel except for food or medical treatment.
TeacherĀ Dr. John Harden is going to meet me somewhere nearby and pick them up. I just won’t abandon these children at this time, a time of their greatest need in America.
We’re getting there, one laptop at a time.
