The first of (hopefully) 20 laptops for Bishop Maginn High School’s new Mobile Classroom arrived from UPS today, an Acer Chrome computer with Wi-Fi.
Many of the Bishop Maginn students now living in virtual quarantine don’t have computers.
I’m trying to fix that, with the help of the Army Of Good.
The Army Of Good and I have purchased eight laptops so far, more money is on the way. If you wish to contribute, that would be great: via Paypal, [email protected] or by check, Jon Katz, Computers, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
The refugee families are especially hard hit by the virus and the resulting closings. You can also help by purchasing Price Chopper Gift Cards for the students and their families, they need groceries and other food supplies.
If you purchase a gift card, it will have to be sent to me, Jon Katz, at my home address, 2502 State Route 22, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816 (the school’s mail is uncertain, the gift cards won’t be sent to a P.O. Box and we are in a bit of a rush).
The refugee families are being laid off at a dizzying rate and they were already without much in the way of resources. These gift cards will go help them feed their families, the laptops will help their children learn and read.
Thanks for helping. So far, we’ve raised about $1,000 in gift cards. More are on the way.
Happy to feel philanthropic with my husband working, from home, for NYS Dept. of Health. If anyone thinks this is a vacation, think again – he’s working more hours than he usually does. I ordered a Price Chopper card this morning.
Thank you…
