Jean’s Place is “Smokin,” Kelsie said. She was up to her neck in orders, the phone never stopped ringing. I went into the kitchen to say hello to Kelly and Kevin, and they were working furiously to keep up.
(Take-out at Jean’s: 518 686-3258)
They were busier today than the previous two days, although the Governor set some new restrictions on businesses, non-essential workers have to stay home. The list of take-out orders was four pages long.
There is something very patriotic to me about these people, they seem to embody the best of the American spirit: honest, hard-working, deeply connected to their communities.
I am deeply moved by the community’s response to their trouble, take that, all the hoarders and whiners.
He also decreed that people who are over 70 with chronic illnesses (that would be me) cannot go outside except for food shopping and solitary walks or trips to get medicine.
I admire the Governor, he is honest, takes responsibility and not afraid to do the right thing. I think we are all getting a civics lesson from the governors.
Thanks to the local readers of the blog for rushing to support this remarkable, community-based restaurant. Monday, they are catering a special lunch for the Mansion (they’ll drop the food off outside).
I’m trying to set up some other meals for Jean’s. They are too tough and much too loved to ban.
Here in Wisconsin all bars and restaurants are temporarily closed except for take out and delivery. One of our local restaurants has a clever sign on its door – KEEP CALM AND CARRY OUT! Not the Queen’s exact words but I love this version.
