We decided this morning to go solar. A site inspector came from the solar company this morning to check out the site, measure the wiring trench and check our electrical system.
We wobbled after all the awful news last week and now, but we went out and agreed on the best spot to put our solar panel, the tape marks the site where it will go, pending a loan approval from a bank or credit union.
A voice in my head said this was insane to do with so much uncertainty about the economy, but we ended deciding that was the best reason to do it now. We don’t want to live with our tail between our legs.
I don’t mind that the interest rates are low either and that we don’t need to put any money down. I think we will save a considerable amount of money from electric bills.
And I am also – both of us – very happy to be doing something, even a small thing for Mother Earth. This is the future, and I may be getting older, but I want to be a part of it.
And I’m not wasting too much time moping around. I like that Americans are being asked to think of people other than themselves, that’s overdue.
There are lots of good reasons to say no, not now, not yet, be we are not good at living in fear. So we won’t do that. We believe in the future and in moving forward.
Our accountant says we will get tax credits from the state and federal government next year.
Zinnia and I went out to take a picture of the panel – 18 by 24 feet – which will be in the South Pasture and will get an obstructed line to the sun when its out.
So, pending a loan, and some paper we’re going solar. We are very happy about it and feel very good about the decision.
Yay! Good for you. Good for us. Good for Earth.
Good for you! I had solar panels installed on my roof in December 2014 & didn’t have an electric bill for several years. Now that 5+ years have passed, along with a gray rainy winter, I’ve had to buy electricity ?. Hopefully now that Spring is here I can go back to generating excess power to be fed into the grid. Best of luck to you on joining the solar revolution!
I went solar some years ago and am upgrading and adding battery storage now. This is a great time to do it. The panels generate 50% more electricity than my old panels! You’ll be glad you did it.
Wonderful idea!! So important for our environment!! Spoke about this with others that have done this!! They said there are some red flags!! One is the $500 fee up front!!
The other is the total cost!!
