At Sue Silverstein’s inspiration, I’ve started sending daily videos from Bedlam Farm to the Mobile Classroom set up by Bishop Maginn High School in Albany.
I took a video of Maria in her studio talking about how she became an artist, I’ll share all of the videos on the blog. I love doing videos of Maria, we have a lot of fun. And we are finding we will be busy these next few weeks, even staying at home almost all of the time.
The school closed on Monday due to the coronavirus, no one is sure for how long.
I’m fund-raising for up to 20 laptops so that all of the students will have the ability to take the virtual classes the school is setting up, the mail is bogged down a bit right now, I’m waiting for some checks to come in to be sure how much money I have.
I know some checks have been pledged, and money is coming into Paypal, thanks. So far, I’ve bought four laptops, they are roughly $230 each.
I sent a video from Zinnia this morning, and I’ll send one from the donkeys tomorrow. I hope to do one a day, I’m learning that Zinnia can do some of her therapy work from here.
If you can and wish to contribute to my technology fund, you can do so via Paypal, jon@bedlamfarm, or by check, Jon Katz, Mobile Classroom, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
I am grateful for the Internet and the ability it offers to help in new ways. It’s tough to think of these kids at home with no computer and no way to learn or connect with the school.
We’ll get there, we will make it right.
