The Wasp Princess became the Mud Princess today, she romped through the muddy swamp in the back pasture, enthusiastically and with great pride. I sent our breeder, Lenore Severni, a photo and she was horrified at first, but then said Lenore was beautiful, even with mud all over her nose.
This is true. This is the other side of Zinnia, the Lab through and through, never happier than when crawling through the muck.
Love it that you called her Lenore. She is so precious. I love her. Sad that the Bishop Maginn kids won’t get to see her for a while – they need her now more than ever.
Love watching her grow, hate the term WASP, it is often rude and not necessary, i bristle each time you use it, i am sure you do not know this but it is considered quiet derogatory. thanks
Sorry, you feel that way. I don’t agree, and I am aware some people feel that way. I will think about it but probably use it from time to time. It has a particular meaning that works for me in my writing. I don’t write for other people, or take every other sensitivity into consideration – in our culture, that would be crippling. I have many friends who are women and “Wasps” and love it and smile at it, there are many different ways to look at the world. I do understand how you feel and appreciate your willingness to say it here.
I think that Lenore’s mud makeup is charmingly beautiful. It’s probably also easier to clean up than the same nose art on an Airedale. Their beards soak up all of the slop and turn it into brickwork as it dries! Then chunks of it fall off all over the house unless it gets cleaned off.
Thanks Barb…Zinnia is self-cleaning, by the time we got to the farmhouse, it was all gone..
