There are millions of trees all around us, and I’ve only seen a small fraction of them, but I have a favorite tree trunk, Zinnia, and me, we visit it often.
Zinnia has picked up on this in the way that dogs have, and she sometimes runs ahead and sits in front of the old tree trunk, which bristles with character, and sits and waits for me to come along.
I believe that if you pay attention to trees, they will pay attention to you. I can’t say I know how it works, but I feel it, every time I take a walk. I think Zinnia has picked this up also, dogs are more advanced than we are in many ways.
She seems to me to be posing in front of this tree, something I realized today. Zinnia and I are in sync, as I was with Red and Rose and Izzy in a particular way. She waited, absolutely still, until I came up, pointed and adjust the camera, and took the photo.
We’ve been past this tree 100 times, this is the first time I felt I needed to take a photograph of it.
Zinna has picked up on my frequent tendency to stop and take a photograph of something, I think she wanted to be a part of this one, she stood rock still while I stepped back far enough to cat her and the trunk in the frame.
This tree trunk is well over 100 years old; when the tree had to come down, the farmers kept the trunk; it was too beautiful to chop down. We think it was a maple.
They say that trees come to recognize people they see often, from the sound of their feet to their voices, even smell. I believe that energy connects as well as buzzsaws and tractors.
I think the tree trunk speaks to Zinnia too; she makes a point out of visiting it with me.
Beautiful.
This tree really is beautiful. I just watched Malificent and this tree reminds me of the ones in the moor. On one of my walks I took a picture of a tree that looked like it had a little keebler elf door at the base of it.?
What an astonishing tree !
I looked at this photograph carelessly and then more closely thinking “The old and the young are speaking with one another.”
Neat…
Speaking of trees, have you read Richard Powers’ novel “The Overstory?”
Yes, I didn’t really care for it, one great story of a dying tree was enough for me, 500 pages too much..I know a lot of people loved it, but I didn’t.
Zinnia looks every bit like a spirit dog, she is a glowing orb of white light. A very special spiritual picture. It is really calling to me.
