Thanks for sending me the remaining money I needed last night – I received about $350 – to buy each of the 19 Mansion aides new scrubs. It was complicated finding the right sizes and colors, the tops and bottoms and special sizes.
All in all, the scrubs will cost about $600. I have a couple more to buy and the others are all on their way to the Mansion.
This will not only brighten up the Mansion, but it will also make the aide’s lives a bit easier. Every dollar they can save helps. I have enough money to cover it all.
Beyond that, we are sending the aides a message that they are important, and we recognize the value of what they do, even if our society does not always do that. That is important.
They tell me every day how much this all means to them.
I appreciate your support, the Army Of Good is precious, and always there. If there is any overage, I’ll apply it to the Mansion/Refugee Fund. You all reaffirm the idea that people are good, given the chance.
This week, I’ll be supporting a new Bishop Maginn Amazon Graduation Wish List. Graduation is coming up, and some of the refugee children do not have money for ribbons or hats or some of the small things everybody is wearing to graduation.
This will be a small and inexpensive list, but very important to those kids. For many, this is their first graduation ceremony in America, perhaps the first in their lives. This one will be sweet and fun.
We’ll be putting the graduation support list up on Tuesday or Wednesday. In a week or so, all of the Mansion aides will have their scrubs.
I’m so glad to be getting back to our small acts of kindness and moving forward.
