I’ve missed the Mansion a lot these past two weeks, I haven’t been able to get over there as regularly as I like. The Mansion is like a second home to me, I love being there and need being there.
Yesterday, Beverly Carroll of Carroll’s Trading Post texted me photos of some beautiful flat shoes she had gotten into her consignment store and hadn’t sold. She offered to give them to me for the Mansion, many were flats suitable for the elderly, and some sneakers for the staff.
Bev said there would be no charge. The shoes seemed great for the Mansion, so I went over and got them and brought them over. I feel as comfortable at the Mansion as I do in the farmhouse.
I ran into Kelly Patrick, one of the Mansion aides, who has a great love affair going with Zinnia. She found a pair of sneakers, but I have to find some 7 1/2 shoes for Nancy (I found some online) and we left the rest (there were two huge bags) for the aides to distribute.
They were all in great shape, almost new. The Scrubs project is looming, it’s been a little more complicated than I thought – so many different colors, sizes, and styles being requested. We’re still organizing the list.
This is something I am eager to do for the aides, who have to buy their own scrubs.
We’re going to have some fun with colors and styles. You can contribute: via Paypal, [email protected] or by check, Jon Katz, Scrubs, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. This will brighten up the Mansion, and boost the spirits of the aides. Thanks.
I’m eager to return with a splash. And thanks, Bev. You’ve given a lot to the Mansion people.
Zinnia has many admirers at the Mansion.
