Bless you, people, the new Bishop Maginn Amazon Wish List for state exam review books is sold out. We may add some additional review books to the list this afternoon. The Army Of Good is sometimes too good to be true.
We put up a Bishop Maginn High School Amazon Wish List asked for 120 review books for Bishop Maginn Thursday night to help students take the New York State Regents Exam, as of this morning there are none left. I can’t thank you enough.
A number of people have messaged me to ask if they can help the school with needed texts for the Regent Exams.
I’m talking to the school about adding some additional review books. I think the answer is yes. They didn’t post all of the books they really need, they are just too shy.
The school took them off of the list last night because they are grateful for what we have done and wary of asking for too much – they just aren’t used to it and can hardly believe it.
I will post further updates as we make some decisions – I am pushing the school to put up all of the books they need, including the review books they didn’t want to ask for yesterday. I’ll let you know.
I am pushing for the additional list. That way, every single student and teacher would have what they need to prepare for these very important tests.
I’m a writer and I’m supposed to know a lot of words, but sometimes “wow” is the best word that comes to mind. This list sought nearly $2,000 for these review books, I expected it would take a while. It didn’t.
The Regents Exam is given several times a year at high schools in New York State and students must pass the exam – there are a number of different ones – in order to graduate.
The families at Bishop Maginn most often do not have enough money to buy these enormous books (they are not expensive, about $15 apiece) and the school has no budget to give every child the book they need to study for this test.
We can address that. With our help, the teachers can get to work right away helping these children prepare and graduate from high school. Thank you, and stay tuned.
I think what this says is that if government won’t help these young people to get the education they need and deserve, we’ll do it ourselves. The US allowed so many refugee kids to come here only to more or less abandon them, or at least that is how it appears. But we are not our government and we can do better. I am sure everyone else is as grateful to you as am I, for making this possible. Bless you, Jon.
People like you make it possible, Carolyn, I thank you and so do they..there is no more government help for the refugees..alas..
