I want to be upfront about this.
I love the new Bishop Maginn High School Choir. Judi Merriam, the Choir Director is a miracle, it can make one believe in a higher power. So is her quiet but skilled accompaniest Cindy.
If anything is blessed by a holy spirit, it is this choir.
The choir was my first project at Bishop Maginn, the first new thing to be funded and supported by the Army Of Good. Judi, who has vast experience in the music world, won’t accept any compensation for her amazing work but the AOG bought the chairs and stands and music sheets the choir is using for their first concert in February.
It is almost unbelievable that this project would attract so gifted a leader. Good breeds good and love breeds love.
I sat in on Wednesday to film this video and I was stunned, first by Judi’s charismatic leadership and wonderful manner, and then by the beauty of the songs I was hearing. She knows what she is doing.
There is something especially powerful about this wonderful and blessed and brave little school raising its voice to the world through this cast of inner-city and refugee children. Some of them have horrific stories to tell, but their songs are the songs of the angels.
And the world will want to hear from this choir, they have spirit and faith and courage.
Please listen to this video, it captures the feeling of the new Bishop Maginn Choir, which you made possible. That is a miracle in and of itself, a small act of kindness that will echo for years and years. Come and listen. Soon I’ll be trying to raise T-shirts for the choir to wear at their first concern. It will not cost much.
Thanks so much.
Wow, they sound amazing! Wish I lived close enough to attend their concert!
