The first Mansion Christmas Party was scheduled for last Thursday and had to be canceled because of a flu-like illness that swept the Mansion and sent a couple of residents to the hospital.
The party was rescheduled for today, but the original Santa was no longer available, so we passed out presents, and a yearbook full of my photos of the residents, and gave out the huge stacks of gifts under the tree (thanks to those of you who sent some.)
The new lights and decorations we bought sparkled, and so did Zinnia, who attended her first large Mansion event in the Great Room. She was as interested in the food crumbs on the floor as the residents at first but then got into the groove.
Becky, an especially gracious resident, used to breed Great Danes and she loves seeing Zinnia and holding her. Zinnia sat up on the couch with her and the two communed for awhile.
I realized halfway through the ceremony that I have probably picked up the virus that was spreading through the Mansion. I can’t say I wasn’t warned, but I feel it coming on – exhaustion, fever, etc.
At times like this, I feel I should be there, not hiding at home. I did go on Tuesday for my reading and again today for my Meditation Class.
I’m not sorry I went. Zinnia spread much joy today, she did very well, as usual.
I was also happy to learn from Kassi, the Mansion Director, that the electrician is nearing completion of the outlets and baseboard heater that will complete the Mansion Aides Break Room, funded by the Army Of Good. Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all of you.
