Jean’s Pace is one of the bastions of the Circle Of Love mission. I know that they have been helping poor people eat for years, but this year the blog and the Army Of Good have taken the program up a notch.
Let the politicians eat one another, we’ll keep on doing good.
Several blog readers have sent donations to Jean’s Place this year. I guess I started it by giving back a $100 gift certificate from a blog reader. I then donated $200 (my money, a personal contribution) to buy meals for people who need a good, hot, nourishing meal.
The notion seems to be catching on. Wally Mook of Iowa sent another $75, and Eileen Petersen of Los Angeles sent beautiful wreaths and Christmas plants.
I’m proposing we start a new and beautiful Christmas ritual – the Jean’s Place Food Fund. This is a shining example of the Circle of Love idea, bouncing all the way across the country and back again.
We’re not seeking thousands of dollars, but I can assure you every penny will go to the right place and will warm hearts and fill stomachs. As you know Christmas is a hard time for many people.
There are some needy families in Hoosick Falls, a mill town that has been better days but is working hard to rebound.
Robin and Kelsie and Mary and the restaurant staff will be alert for people who need some support in getting a good meal for themselves or their families.
These waitresses have the best radar outside of NASA. They know who needs help.
One act of compassion leads to another, one gives birth to another, compassion spreads like a virus, faster than hate or rage. Feel good this Christmas, help a needy family have a sweet Christmas meal.
This is real power, this is the real Christmas Spirit. Zinnia has been virtually adopted by the staff at Jeans. This is our news.
I don’t bring dogs into restaurants, but if I don’t let her come in and say hello, I can’t even order. She is a spreader of Joy.
If you can and wish to, please consider a (small donations are very welcome) to Jean’s Place, just write “Food Fund” on the memo part of the check or contribution. It lifts my heart just to think about a family getting a good Christmas meal there. Light in the dark days.
The address is Jean’s Place (Christmas Food Fund), P.O. Box 116, North Hoosick, N.Y., 12133.
Jon and Maria this is a great idea and so glad it is catching on at Jean’s Place. And hope it continues all throughout the year, not just at Christmas time, but Christmas time is a great time to start!
