I am rooting heavily for the Bishop Maginn High School Scholastic competition team, it’s called a Mastermind team, or as they are known at the school, Masterminds.
I’m proud of them, Tyler, Grace, Thang, and Gabe in the photo, they beat Mohonasen (a huge public high school with 2,500 students) High School 140-70.
The team’s record in this nearly year-long competition is 3 -1, they almost took down the competition’s one undefeated team, they lost by a speck and were actually leading at the time. The team they almost beat has been undefeated for three years. They’ll get to play them again.
It’s amazing that this little school can go up against these enormous suburban powerhouses and win or come awfully close. Great luck to them. I’m on a school spirit crusade.
It’s impressive that Bishop Maginn’s team – the school has about 150 students – is beating teams that come from schools ten times their size. Several of these brainiacs are in my Writing Workshop, I’m proud of the team, David against a bunch of Goliaths.
I’m thinking of ordering them some hats, Bishop Maginn Masterminds.
