Lots of people were worried that Zinnia would be stressed on her first day at Bedlam Farm, but I don’t think Zinnia got the memo.
She seemed instantly at ease here, pleased to have a home of her own with two idiosyncratic dogs, space to run, and two people devoted to making her life happy and meaningful.
I carried her out in my arms so that the donkeys could see her and she could see them. They each looked at one another with curiosity.
I was lying down in the living room reading when Maria came in and dropped Zinnia on my stomach. She crawled up onto my chest, rolled over on her back and went to sleep, snoring loudly and snoring.
“Aren’t you supposed to be stressed without your mother and brothers and sisters?,” I asked. She yawned, licked me on the nose and went to sleep. I scratched her belly while she dozed and put my book down.
I think this dog could work out.
I think perhaps someone is “in love”! Great photo btw..
Thank you for this post – love in my heart, smile on my lips.
Great photo of a man and his dog. Contentment seems to be the theme here. She is beautiful ❤️
There is just something about puppies that warms my heart and this picture does just that.
She’s beautiful Jon. Congratulations on your new puppy.
Oh, she looks so soft and cuddly!! And doesn’t she love that tummy scratch?! Does she still have “puppy smell?” That really just the best and worth every penny. I am so envious, but your photos really help me feel my own chills of delight.
Thanks to you, Puppy Poppa!
The cuddling on your chest…. I remember it well. My Airedale, Heidi, loved to do this when she first came home. Happily she outgrew it fairly quickly so I didn’t need to have a discussion with her about why a 55-pound dog can’t sit on my lap. We reached a compromise where she sits on my foot while I scratch her head. Of course, when she’s tired of my foot, she has her own chair in the living room. All dogs are spoiled like this, aren’t they? Maybe it’s just me. Nah…..
This photo! So perfect, in so many ways. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Looks like you’re playing a Zinnia ukulele!
Looks like she could become the Zen dog.
welcome home Zinnia
I’m just happy you have TWO shoulders and a big chair. I think you’re gonna need ’em [Where’s Bud? He’s going to want to vote on this arrangement, I think]
Charles Schulz once said “Happiness is a warm puppy”. I think he’s right. Zinnia is soooo cute!!!
You made my day. So sweet:) Enjoy her! What a lucky girl she is.
I envy you Jon starting again with a young Lab. However as I am a lot older that you at 80 I know that I would not have the energy needed for a young energetic pup. However after having Labs all my life I adopted another one two years ago, Lucy and for a 10 year old her energy levels are amazing . She had been ill treated but has the sweetest nature . The look on your face in the photo says it all, you are happy . Welcome Zinnea you will have a fantastic life with Jon and Maria .
What a lovely picture. I’m so happy for all of you!! Makes me want to get a Lab next time!!
I’m happy seeing you happy. She’s beautiful and looks like she’ll fit in just fine. Congrats on your new puppy!
