When I came home from Albany today, I found that a new angel was waiting for me, courtesy of an anonymous donor.
Sue Silverstein the theology teacher at Bishop Maginn, thinks he’s an archangel.
The archangels are a different category of angels.
They are more somber and more powerful.
The word comes from the Greek term “chief angel.’ Religious scholars say archangels are at the top of the angelic hierarchy in terms of power.
Said to be created by God, these kinds of angels have a number of different roles to play from fighting with Satan to intervening in a spiritual fight involving the Prince of Persia.
Some scholars say only one archangel exists: Gabriel. This one seems heavier than my rescue angel, who was nowhere to be seen this morning.
Perhaps my little angel got weary of my stubbornness and asked for help from above. She seems like a rascal next to this guy.
Perhaps there are more messages intended for me.
The postmark came from Illinois, but there was no address and no message. I’m not at all sure what I’m supposed to do with this angel, but I think he is beautiful in some ways, there is a lot of energy coming off of him.
I’ll keep him around. I believe in angels, this one is different from the ones I’ve seen.
He is quite stunning. He may have something to do with peace and solitude.
