I went out to say good morning to my sweet donkey this morning, when they see me, they bray softly, a gentle reminder that they expect some attention and perhaps a treat.

Donkeys are not demonstrative like dogs, they show affection by their closeness. How they say “I love you” is by bumping their butts into my or butting me with their noses in my butt. Otherwise, they maintain their cool and reserve. No tail wagging like dogs, or seductive purring by cats.

Donkeys show their love by permitting you to scratch or brush them or kiss them on the nose, which I do as often as I am permitted.
