Wonder Woman, In Her Kingdom

by Jon Katz

It seems I’m surrounded by strong women these days, that gives me much hope for the world. In our kitchen, Wonder Woman sits on her throne in the center of yet another of Maria’s Windowsill Gallery.

Maria’s creativity churns 24/7, the galleries – now a cherished fixture of our lives – change constantly, a reflection of Maria’s intense creativity and imagination and also offer a history of the changing tenets of our lives.

I think this kitchen windowsill gallery is a kind of masterpiece, it tells a whole bunch of different stories about us and our lives.

  1. I just read your book “Talking to Animals”, it was simply wonderful! I can’t claim reliable communication skills as you describe, but I have had a couple or three of very real, clear experiences with cats and kittens that I’ve never mentioned to anyone. These occurred when deciding path of vet care for the injured little ones, as part of my spay-neuter program. I figured other people would think I’m nuts. Thank you for sharing your experiences with animal communication. And, BTW, if Minnie had knowledgeable vet care you shouldn’t feel she suffered so very much. Blossom, a near dead feral I took in with a ruined hind leg (that had to be amputated) happily became my ‘office cat’. Blossom always had a special kitty companion she loved to curl up with in her bed or on the chair in the sun. She was a young, bright, playful, long haired calico that came out of her shell when her leg was finally removed- it took two months to clear the infection so surgery could be done. She spent those two months near me eating, sleeping, getting stronger and filling out- and the very day after surgery she looked at me in a deep concentrated way and said ‘thank you’. Of course- it might have been the drugs talking haha! Truly, she seemed to feel very relieved to be safe, secure and reliably loved at last.
