“Miss Mary On The Swing With Robin

by Jon Katz

I think my daughter Emma is getting used to me, I don’t think I’m driving her as crazy as I often have, she is perhaps adapting to my strange ways. Robin asked her for a skeleton for her birthday, and Em decided to get her something else.

I asked if I could send a skeleton (okay, I didn’t ask), and it arrived last week and she gave it to Robin today at yet another of her many birthday celebrations. I’m sending a skeleton “love” poster along which should arrive for Tuesday or Wednesday.

Robin is very happy to get these skeleton, I knew she would be, but am not sure why uness she has one of my strange genes, I loved skeletons when I was a kid and was fascinated by them.

I just had this strange feeling she should have one.

Robin immediately named the skeleton “Miss Mary”, for unknown reasons, and insisted on taking her along on the sings at a nearby park. Emma said they drew some stares, but Robin is very happy to have Miss Mary.

I’m proposing meeting Robin and Emma and Jay at the Bronx Zoo at the end of the month, Robin hasn’t been there and I took Emma there about 100 times, starting when she was three.

The circle turns, Maria and I are going to spend a full day watching animals there and we thought it might be nice to introduce Robin two the animals there. The zoo is about three-and-a-half hours from the farm. (photo by Emma Span)
