Another band of severe storms is approaching the farm from the West, according to my funky storm and lightning app – I can see it coming and feel it in the air. Maria and I went to Bennington to see the iconic play about Vermont – Judevine – by David Budbill’s.
The play was amazing and the Old Castle Theater has been a major discovery for Maria and me, the acting was wonderful, the play was touching, even wrenching about the bittersweet world that is Vermont, a beautiful place, often a very hard and poor place to live.
My friend Christine Decker was one of the actors, she performed at Hubbard Hall in my playlet about the last days of a dairy farm a few years ago. Maria and I both love this theater company, the plays are so real and fresh. We’re going again in October, that will wrap up another strong theater season for us here.
We have a bunch of good theater to see here – the Dorset Theater Festival, the Williamstown, Massachusettes Theater Festival, Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, and Old Castle Theater in Bennington.
Before the new round of storms turned the sky dark, we went out to get grain to Zelda and Izzy and check on the animals.
Bud did some sheep herding (photo to come) and I caught this tableau of the Pole Barn in late afternoon, one of the central heartbeats of our farm. More later.
