Lori, The Mansion (And Dog) Cookie Lady

by Jon Katz

I am oddly superstitious and secretive about some things, I won’t even share my recipe details with Maria, and I have refused to tell the Mansion aides and residents where I buy some of the cookies I bring to them twice in every week.

Some come from the Round House Cafe, but during this summer, they come from an amazing cookie lady, and I took her photo today at the Cambridge Farmer’s Market.

Since she is now a regular fixture in my life and a strong woman and a good and funny baker,  I said it was time to take her photo and she just shrugged and said yes. Strong women are like that.

A lot of people have asked me for her name, so here it is. Her number is 518 832 0189. Her blog, like Lori herself,  is fun.

Her name is Lori Lantz, she is a retired baker who lives in Vermont and operates a company called Pawlicious Pies and Treats. She works very hard to make her beautiful cookies and scones. She also makes treats for dogs and other pets (she can’t sell them alongside the cakes and cookies for people).

Several people are great fans of her Apple Cinnamon Mini Bone Shaped Biscuits. She is not a secret it’s fair to keep from animal people. She also sells “”Woof You Heart Dog Cookies.”

Lori is a lot of fun, the Mansion aides and staff devour her big and beautiful cookies, and she sells out pretty quickly at the Farmer’s Market.

Lori has entered my life and enriched it, and my rule is that when people enter my life, I take their photograph. It’s important to me to keep a record of the people who come through my life. This is, after all, a memoir when all is said and done.
