The Curiosity Of Donkeys

by Jon Katz

If donkeys have a weakness – and they are very hardy and savvy creatures – it might be their curiosity. They have extraordinarily sensitive ears and noses, when they smell or hear something strange, they have to come and take a look.

They want to know everything that’s going on. We went out to dinner tonight and when we got home, we went out to look at the gardens, and when I turned around, there was Lulu and Fanny, they crept up quietly to the fence, perhaps they were hoping for a treat (they got one) or perhaps they just wanted to know what we were going.

I liked watching them through the leaves of the apple trees.
