We asked the Mansion residents what movies they would like to see on their new Samsung widescreen, they asked for six movie DVD’s and the result was a new Mansion Amazon Wish List with six items, all DVD movies – The First Wives Club, A Fistful Of Dollars, Road to Morocco, Galaxy Quest, That’s Entertainment, and Evita.
These items range in price from $5.99 to $30.50. Thanks for supporting this work and the lives of the Mansion residents. You can see the Wish List here.
The Army Of Good has spawned a movie club at the Mansion, new lovers of film.
I’ve been curious for awhile now—how do you justify relying so heavily on Amazon, even including pictures that are essentially free advertising for them, knowing the horrific way they treat their employees?
I don’t run the wish list, Cameron, I just support the residents. But the service for them has been great. I do what’s best for the Mansion residents, Cameron, if I only did business with American corporations that treat their employees generously and well, I would not be able to help them at all. Can you name such companies for me that have this range of products and ship quickly? So yes, I justify it quite readily, to put your mind to rest.
Cameron, this is a response to you and Anne also…I know you’re long gone and hiding, but here it is anyway…

The Army of Good can do a lot better than buying wildly overpriced used dvds on Amazon. There are other sites that have them for one tenth the price that Amazon charges.
Anne, I don’t run the wish list,I just support it. If you don’t feel comfortable with the prices or decisions of the Mansion staff. you shouldn’t participate, I certainly respect that. They don’t have the time or know how to bargain shop, I’m afraid. I’m happy to support their decisions, Amazon has worked very well for the residents, offering what they need and getting to them quickly. They don’t spend a lot of time on computers. I’ve bought two DVD’s on the list. If you wish to buy DVD’s elsewhere and ship it to the Mansion, feel free, 11 S. Union Avenue, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. Or if you decide not participate, I thank you for considering it. And if Amazon Prime would work (I have it myself) we would, of course, have done it.
Then perhaps you could suggest that the Army of Good sign The Mansion up for Amazon Prime. That would allow them to watch all the movies they want for $0. At the prices that Amazon charges for used dvds, the yearly membership cost would be recouped in just a few days.
No, that’s not a realistic suggestion, Anne, if you had ever been to the Mansion, you would know that very few of them have the screens or smart phones or computers to watch their movies in that way..They gather in one room around one TV set, many have eye or hearing issues and the equipment is designed for that. Not all DVD’s work on their system…What bothers me about your assumptions is that you don’t bother to ask, you just make pronouncements.. This is hard and difficult work and the people who order things are not paid to do this and have precious little time..You have a fantasy world idea of life in a facility like this. ..we’ve had bad luck with e-bay and “cheaper” places..Cheaper is not always better, even in America…
https://www.bedlamfarm.com/2019/07/19/wish-lists-second-guesses/ P.S. Amazon Prime videos are quite often not available for free, many have rights controlled by studios or the artist’s estates…If you try to sign up for the, you will see that quite a few are not available to purchase…
