Please, We Need To Share Our Happy Dogs/Cats Tonight

by Jon Katz

I have no brilliant insights to share with you on this ugly day, but I can help you- and me – in other ways. Please Share Your Happy dogs with me, all the better if they are smiling.

But if you are an animal person, I am learning this week, even the worst despair and depression can be lifted by a beloved pet with happy and  loving eyes. Let’s do it, they can keep their news. We can use the power of animal love to move mountains. It’s guaranteed, images of the dogs and cats we love will life our spirits. Guaranteed.

The Happy Dog Sharing was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but we need to lift ourselves up tonight. I want to do my Happy Dog Sharing post tonight and add Happy Cats to it.

Or happy dogs and cats can smile, and they can also make us smile, which is the work of dogs, and has been for thousands of years.

Dogs life us up, make us love and smile and connect. My photo is of Gus, our first Boston  Terrier, who died last year of megaesophagus, an intestinal wasting disease for which there is no cure.

Gus, like Bud, made us laugh all of the time, and I’d love for people to share images of their happy dogs  dogs that lift us up and make us smile. We all could use that tonight.

So go to it, friends, I’m loving my new Dog Sharing program and will steadily expand it to birds and other animals.

But we have a lot of dog and cat stuff to get through first.

Let’s let the animals we love do their work and get us smiling tonight. Our hearts and souls need some warning.

Tonight, Please Share Your Happy Dogs with me on my Facebook Page.

  1. Oh no. I’m sorry about the ugly day. I have a feeling that it’s Red. Sending strength your way. But I know you’re prepared.

      1. ((((America)))) and thank Dog for good humans and the pets who seem to always teach us how to find joy, because of and in spite of… humans!

      2. This might be a ridiculous question or I have missed something important. I am confused about the “ugly day”.
I do know that much is going on in our country that is ugly in fact daily but did something happen that is more ugly than usual? I don’t get a lot of the news but I did my best to look around before bothering you and I am unsure. For God’s sake did they start another war somewhere?

      3. Yep. I feel it too, Jon. I feel like the scales are tipping but I can’t tell which direction they’re going to go. It is frightening as well as depressing. Happy pets seems like a great idea.

  2. I don’t do Facebook. No thanks. But I WAS on the Pacific Ocean today and there were happy dogs running and chasing balls in the waves…happy dogs jumping for joy on the beach,….visiting other people and dogs…it was a good day for man or beast lol!

  3. Oh, How I miss little Gussie, The Prince of the farm, The donkey-sitting, whole-head muzzle-wearing Boston Terror! He was a beautiful baby who gave us all such joy… Now I love Bud, too, who also is bringing you and us smiles and another aspect of Bostons’ abilities- sheep herding! A life-long love of Bostons might make me a little biased. 😉

    1. Thanks Mary, for your warm and good feelings. I don’t mourn my dead dogs, I’d rather celebrate the living ones…If you live with dogs, you will never be a stranger to death..
