There are eight items on the new Bishop Maginn High School Amazon Wish List.
They range in price from $ to $14.99, and they are all elemental school supplies, they render me a bit nostalgic, I admit, and I never like to remember school. But then I never knew a principal like Mike Toland and a teacher like Sue Silverstein.
This once struggling urban Catholic High School is full of energy and hope, the school has become a cherished refuge for nearly 40 refugee students, as well more than 100 others, more coming in the Fall.
The list is in support of the school’s deepening relationship with refugee children.
The list includes Hand Sanitizers for $14.10 (they need 3); Facial Tissues (12 boxes for $17.99, school kids cry); Block Whiteboard Erasers ($4.44, they need 10). Dry Erase Markers, $6.99; Student Planner and Calendars ($6.99, they need 25); a pencil sharpener, $4.00; and 20 Spiral notebooks, assorted colors, $8.99 each.
These supplies will go with the new computer room, the new music room, the new art room, and the new science classroom with 24 brand new microscopes. Thanks to the Army Of Good, arriving students in September will have backpacks, pens and pencils, computers to learn, microscopes to use.
The supplies are for the needy students, those with no money for school supplies. Most of those children are the young refugees, new to America. Check it out if you can and wish.
I bought two erasers on this new and quite modest list, I couldn’t help myself. These are all desperately needed school supplies, the kids need every one of these items to succeed in their schoolwork. Thanks again, you can see the list here.
