Jim’s Chaise Lounge Arrived at the Mansion last week, courtesy of the Army Of Good’s Mansion Fund. Jim loves to sleep outside and wants to sleep outside, especially on cool and pleasant evenings.
I just never know what I might be asked to get.
The Mansion staff agreed to his request and asked me for help, it was yet another new dimension of shopping for me. The staff put the lounge by the back door, where it is visible to the staff.
So far, Jim has been using it to sleep in the daytime, and to nap and rest in the early evening, a good and sensible compromise. One thing I love about the Mansion is that they really want people to have some control over their loves, they try to carry out their wishes.
For Jim, sleeping outside at times was an important step for him, it spoke to his independence, control, and lifestyle. It was a good thing for him to have.
The Army of Good (they are dedicating the new memory building to us tomorrow afternoon) has been essential in carrying out these small acts of great kindness – they are not expensive or complex, but they make an enormous difference in the lives of the residents. It feels good to do good.
This week I bought these things for the residents: special size underwear and bras (one of my new specialties), two pairs of pants, some summer polo shirts, and two pairs of sandals. Plus three large print word puzzles, two computer games and five used large print novels.
I believe everyone who needs a window air conditioner has one, everyone who wants a realistic baby doll has one, and everyone who needs summer clothes has them.
I brought the Mansion office staff their weekly cookie bag this Morning.
I am grateful to the Mansion for trusting me and permitting me to take photographs and have access to the residents. It is a loving and caring place. Thanks for your help.
