Farm Down The Road

by Jon Katz

I’m in a black and white mood this week, the big and beautiful apple tree in the back yard frames the old silo down the road when there are leaves blossoming. The small green apples are starting to fall, to the delight of the donkeys. Maybe we’ll get some apples.

Tonight, we’re eating beans from out vegetable garden along with mushroom ravioli. Cooler  today, we are settling down from the weekend. Maria sold her wonderful quilt today – “how to keep your husband…” – for some reason she was worried about selling it, but it was sold just as the holiday weekend ended, which is not surprising, at least to me.

You never know, but it was a special piece of art, she is happy it is going to grace someone’s home. Several people suggested to her that she keep it because it was “personal,” but if you know Maria, she doesn’t make art to keep it.

And I don’t think it was personal at all, I think it was pretty universal. Good work, happy ending. (Besides, she needed the money :)), the bank account was getting low
