For the second time in her young life, my granddaughter Robin, accompanied by her mother, my daughter Emma, and her father, Jay Jaffe (both sportswriters and editors) is coming to visit Bedlam Farm.
I’m going to pick them up at the Albany Train station early this afternoon. They’re going to stay at a nearby motel, the farmhouse is a bit cramped. I’ll see what Robin wants to do and see.
I’ve been sending her videos all week of the farm, the cats, fish, donkeys. She keeps asking if the donkeys are real, she loves watching the fish. I think she’ll also love cuddling with Minnie, Flow and the dogs.
I’ve got a huge stack of books to read to her, I hope to take her to the bookstore. She can pick strawberries with us, or the lettuce from our garden. I went out yesterday and bought the food she likes to eat, I hope we can get to the Battenkill Bookstore, they have great books and some neat stuffed animals.
We’ll bring her out to the donkeys, she seems to be ready for it. We’ll see. I’ll be doing a lot of cooking. We just figured out once again how to get the car seat into the car, Maria has offered Emma her car while she’s here so they won’t have to rent one.
Jon, I’m so glad that your family is coming to visit you. Hope you all have a wonderful time. Do keep us up to date with Robin’s progress.
Love to you both

You sound like an excited grandfather. Enjoy.
I think I hear excitement in your words.
Robin has gotten so BIG. She looks like Little Miss Riding Hood…
Really touching sentiments about grandchildren-no frills or sentiments/ mostly in Whitehall we stay in our room for conference- the rest is fluff –
I hope you will share pictures of Robin during her visit with you; she is so stinkin cute!!
Robin’s curls can be your fireworks. Have fun!!!!!
