I’m heading to Albany for a BBC interview on “The Digital Life,” the documentary is focusing on the impact of social media on creativity, a subject dear to my heart. The Internet is a blessing and a curse when it comes to creativity, and I’ve written about that quite often, and hope to talk about it.
Creativity – painting, writing – takes some privacy and head space, both of those things, especially personal space, are vanishing from the lives of most of us.
They’re taping the interview from the studios of WAMC and it will take about an hour. See you soon. Two stray dogs came into our yard and we’re trying to figure out who they belong to.
Jon, I’m very glad to read these words of yours: “Creativity – painting, writing – takes some privacy and head space, both of those things, especially personal space”. Maria’s work, my work, textiles is another medium to creativity as is your writing. I cannot create when people are around demanding my attention. I listen to the birds outside my window, the wind in the trees, sometimes, quiet, Tibetan bells. I am a quilter but I cannot meet with other quilters to work on my work. I live in my head much of the time. Sometimes I feel isolated in what I do, but I also run a Bed&Breakfast and this helps me with the stimulation of other people. Thanks for putting this into words, Jon, it reaffirms how I feel about creativity.
