Maria came with me to Bishop Maggin this morning, she and Blue, the young artist selling her work on my blog these past few weeks, she is a senior at Bishop Maginn High School in Albany, N.Y. .
“Blue lit up today when I told her Maria would be there,” Sue Silverstein, Blue’s art teacher, told me. “They are joined at the cellular level on a plane where artists dwell.”
This was very true, the two connected as if they had been friends for years, they sat talking art, laughing, sharing for nearly an hour while Blue worked on her art. It was a very beautiful thing to see.
I’ve rarely seen Maria connect so easily and warmly to anyone.
Sue also told me she thinks Red is an angel in disguise. He may not need a disguise.
Blue gave us another watercolor painting to sell another constellation: this one her interpretation of Cancer, the Crab. I’m asking $30 for it, please e-mail me, [email protected], if you’re interested.
(Please take a look at the new Bishop Maginn Amazon Wish List, there are three laptops left on the list ($199), and eight more microscopes. Also inexpensive gift cards, 20 $10 gift cards will buy a laptop. so will eight $25 cards.
First come, first serve. So far, Blue has sold every painting I’ve put up for sale.
I asked Maria and Blue to talk about Blue’s art, selling her art in this way has had an enormous impact on her confidence and outlook. She admits she slips easily into the dark side, her art is pulling her into the light. Come and see these two talented artists talking to one another.
The photo is for sale for $30, signed, free shipping. [email protected]
