This new painting by Paw Lway Shee is for sale, it’s 8 x 10 for $25. If you want it, (she is quite popular) please e-mail me at [email protected], it’s first come first serve. I’ll let you know payment details.
I’m calling this painting “Flower Dance,” it was painted to reflect the rituals and festivals of the Karen world that Paw Lway Shee saw destroyed in her homeland. There is so much dancing and singing in the Karen world.
Yesterday, Carol Richards (she is [email protected]) said she loved Blue’s paintings (and Paw Lway’s) and wanted to support Blue. She bought one of her water colors.
I was touched by how many artists have written me about Blue’s work and the paintings of Paw Lway Shee (above.) There is a strong community among artists, I see it as Maria travels with me to Albany to talk to Blue and support her work.
Artists are sending encouragement, art supplies and advice. It is a sweet thing to see these Circles of Good forming around the school and its young artists.
Artists know the importance of encouragement and support, especially among the young. I’ve heard from a lot of them as they follow the lives and work of the Silverstein Art Gang at Bishop Maginn High School.
I asked Carol to show me some of her acryllic work and she sent me four quite lovely pieces.
I ‘m reprinting two of them here with her permission. You can e-mail her if you wish, she’s [email protected]. Maria and I both talk all the time about the impact encouragement had on us when we were young, there wasn’t much of it. Carol understands this. This is a portrait of her dog Sydney: I think it’s a remarkable work, and I see a lot of dog paintings.
And her cat Frieda:
