Still Life: Mirror, Bedroom Dresser. (Biggest Little Farm)

by Jon Katz

I’ve been wanting to take this photo of the mirror in our old dresser in the bedroom, I finally took it this morning, it captures a part of our lives, and makes a pretty good still life all of its own.

I love taking pictures of things that reflect real life. People have been sleeping in our bedroom for more than 200 years.

Today, we’re heading to the movies, we’re going to see a documentary called The Biggest Little Farm, and I hope to review it later today.

The film was shot by Documentarian John Chester and his wife Molly, who decided to develop a sustainable farm on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles. The movie has won a bunch of awards and rave reviews.

Their idea was to start a biodiverse agricultural operation on land that had long since been stripped of any nutrients. They learned a lot about animals, brutish hard work, unpredictable weather, and the reality of farming. The rumor is that they made a beautiful movie in the process.

Maria and I are eager to see it, and also eager to get some Mexican food., the restaurant is just down the road from the theater. More later.

  1. When I saw this pic, I almost wept. Not sure why it touches me so but it sure does. Thanks.
