I’m heading to Albany, to meet with Principal Mike Tolan of the Bishop Maginn High School.
We got nine of the 10 Texas Instrument Calculators for the school so far on the new Bishop Maginn Wish List (still good and inexpensive stuff there, thanks). There is one calculator left on the Wish List, you can see it here.
The last one costs $132.
Truckloads of art supplies arrived yesterday and Monday, thank you. They are stunned and grateful. More are on the way. Sue Silverstein, the art teacher, won’t have to buy her own supplies, at least for a good long while.
We’re going to talk about reviving the music program, shut down over money. We’ve raised more than $1,500 for the new choir already. They will need some (11) music stands and keyboards. A donated guitar is on the way, so is sheet music and a potential choir director seeking to volunteer.
The music program is being reborn.
I’m going to take a video of some of the singers. Mike has asked me to bring Red, so I will, he’ll make his debut appearance there. He’s a certified therapy dog, so he’ll have no problems there.
There are about eight items left on the new list, which went up yesterday. We cleaned out the first one over the weekend. The school is seeking eleven more music stands for the new choir, and some instruments. The stands cost $11.39 each.
I’m bringing $100 for the gifted young artist Paw Lway Shee, her family is very poor, she is excited about getting this money and hopes to sell more paintings like the one below.
I hope to focus on the choir today, it would make such an enormous impact on the refugee students who love to sing, and on the school, as it seeks to get its message out into the community.
Thanks so much for your support. The Army of Good is already having an enormous impact on the school. Today, Red joins the fray. That can only help.
I sent the check for $132. today directly to Mr. Tolan at the school for him to purchase one calculator. Is that one included in the total bought?
I can’t know that Jane, but thank you, it was very generous and much appreciated.
I bought a music stand. Will be delivered Wed. 29th. I was a choir singer in H.S. & in church choirs for many years. Just great that their music program can be revived thanks to Army of Good?
Thanks Linda, very wonderful. We are going to get a choir going no matter what!
